A vast expanse of quartz sand, mixed with finer sediments, forms the beach of Maimoni, which extends for over 2 km. The large sandbar, emphasized by several ponds and backwaters is surrounded by a great variety of plants typical of the Mediterranean vegetation, indicating a natural environment complete and intact.

The seabed, mainly sandy, presents some agglomeration of rocks: ideal setting for the development of marine biological life.

To be mentioned the system of passive defence and reconstruction of the dune cordon implemented by the Marine “Sinis Peninsula – Island of Mal di Ventre” through a series of posts in different areas of the beach.
